Il Duca: Sandblasted Bent Egg with Boxwood (B) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-427-0601
A whimsical, rather jaunty design from gifted carver Max Reminsi of Il Duca, this shapely bent Egg features a Stack-like bowl measuring nearly three-inches tall, its slender shaping giving it a distinctive profile. It's rimmed in plateau, and the lifting heel contributes to its floral inclination. A low, indented transition emphasizes the bowl's height all the more, as does the rounded, sleek shank, the contrasting proportions of which hint at the artisan's Italian roots. Dressed in one of his iconic contrast-stained sandblasts, the ochre and "reverse-fumed," smoky stains make for a delightful pairing and showcase the briar's stunning ring grain, which climbs upward from the heel. For further flourish, Max has accented this piece with a pale band of boxwood, lightening the composition a bit and contrasting the jet-black stem.
