Max Rimensi is one of the most versatile carvers working today and is known for crafting creative pieces imbued with a minimalist, streamlined and easy-flowing style. This Volcano is a fine example of the Italian artisan's shaping aesthetic. The base is wrapped in a subtle ridgeline that's more felt than seen and turns upward at the fore, with the remainder of the bowl tapering to the rim. It's paired to a more svelte, arcing shank that tapers from a broad transition and is topped by a slender fishtail-style vulcanite stem. This piece is wearing one of Max's iconic contrast-stained sandblasts, showing off handsome growth rings ascending the bowl and shank from the jet-black underside, while a smooth hardwood accent lends fetching contrast.
