Max Rimensi's particular style of pipe making is often hard to define in one simple term since the Il Duca carver's versatility and creativity allows him to move easily from one design school to another. Classic shapes, organic designs and eclectic pieces comprise his portfolio and all are pointedly functional and superbly engineered, with this Rhodesian being a fine example.
Rhodesian designs are among the Italian artisan's most popular, with this muscular, sleek-lined piece displaying a loosely flowing, dynamic profile. A broad, domed rim with a crisp demarcating beadline tops the bowl, while an elongated, soft transition and gently upward-curling oval shank are topped by a slightly downturned stem. A handsome design, this pipe wears one of Rimensi's rustic contrast stains that shows off its handsome grain and makes for a comfortable, pleasingly tactile experience.
