Il Duca: Smooth Acorn with Horn (D) Tobacco Pipe

Ferrara's Massimiliano Rimensi has honed his unique style for over 30 years. Taking the moniker Il Duca in homage to the historical rulers of his native city, Rimensi has integrated global influences into one singular style. This petite Acorn displays a touch of Danish style in its pleasantly bulbous rim and slim, tapered heel and shank, dressed in a vibrant stain and smooth finish. The organic and broad bowl offers thick insulating walls, and the weight of the pipe is perfectly distributed, with a streaked horn ferrule that elongates the shank where it joins a tapered vulcanite stem, allowing the pipe to hang effortlessly from the jaw. This pipe also bears the added distinction of Rimensi's Duca grade designation, reserved for his finest work. To show off the fine natural properties of the burl, Rimensi has dressed this piece in a honey blonde contrast stain. The gold and umber hues highlight excellent birdseye around the pipe's rim and heel, with streaks of flame grain racing around the rim and up the shank.
