Il Duca pipes are handmade in Italy by Max Rimensi, the name "Il Duca" honoring the historic rulers of his hometown Ferrara. Though shaped in Acorn form, the overall stance and gesture of this piece mirrors Rimensi's signature Bulldog and Rhodesian design: The stem and shank curling gracefully through the heel and pitching the bowl at a slight forward cant. Instead of a crisply tapered Bulldog bowl, though, the Italian artisan has here carved a more organic and supple Acorn design, the rim expanding in rounded for to overhang just slightly above the transition.
