Starting at age 14, Max Rimensi of Il Duca, has been growing his craftsmanship since the early 1990s. The name Il Duca is inspired by the historical rulers of his native city, Ferrara, Italy. Il Duca pipes often exude a sleek and sinuous design, though the artisan's shapes vary from traditional Anglo-French designs to unconventional Freehands. A stout Nosewarmer, this Reverse Calabash is characterized by its expansive chamber within the shank that makes for a cool, dry smoke. The bowl is almost spherical and offers a hearty degree of substance in hand, yet it remains compact, offering the convenience of easy portability. The stummel wears a contrast stained sandblast, boating hues of tan and back and showcasing rippling growth rings along the bowl.
