Dunhill: Bruyere (3104) (2013)
Product Number: 002-015-2362
It's been about three years since we last saw a Group 3 "04" Bulldog from Dunhill, and they appeared rather few and far between preceding that. Either there's been some changes in the shape since then, or someone at Dunhill went "Quaint" on this briar, yet gave it a standard shape-stamp anyway. Aside from sporting a leaner shank than previous examples, also conspicuous is the smoothly rounded, rather than beveled-and-bead-lined bowl. This, as it so happens, is something we've seen once before, in the one, single, solitary Group 2 "04" we ever received from Dunhill. Another striking similarity between this Group 3 and that Group 2 are their overall measurements; in short, this really is a Group 2, stamping aside. Granted, as rare as Group 2 pipes in this shape are, I can't say I can entirely fault someone, say the fellow stamping pipes on a certain day, for assuming it was a "3".
