Dunhill: Root Briar Quaint Calabash (4) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4077
A long, sinuous, and deeply sweeping Dunhill Calabash shape here, this whimsical fellow is rarer design from the English marque. The main reason being that it's part of the Quaint series, which consists of pipes not typically found on the Dunhill's standard shape chart. Despite its elongated form and sinuous nature, it should still hang from the jaw with ease thanks to its light weight and deep bend. It's also beautifully dressed in the light, natural stain of the esteemed Root Briar series, displaying some fabulous grain.
The highest honor for a Dunhill pipe is to receive the prestigious Root Briar appellation. Root Briars have been coveted by pipesmokers ever since they first debuted in 1931, due to the fact that each pipe must boast briar completely free of even the most minor of blemishes. Dunhill has the strictest of standards and expectations for quality with all of their pipes, and so any block of briar that comes to bear the Root Briar stamp must indeed be superlative.- Jeffery Sitts
