Dunhill: Cumberland (1303) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4122
Dunhill's Group 1 designation features some of the smallest pipes the English marque has to offer and this "03" Billiard may be the most petite Dunhill I've ever seen. This compact, pocket-friendly piece may be small, but it's definitely not lacking anything in terms of charm. Certainly an ideal choice for anyone seeking to acquire a Dunhill, but prefer lightweight pipes with smaller chambers that can easily be transported anywhere. Not to mention that it's quite difficult to beat a classic English Billiard dressed in the marque's beloved Cumberland finish.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."- Jeffery Sitts
