Dunhill: Cumberland Quaint Acorn with Silver Army Mount (4) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4126
For those seeking Dunhill prestige and craftsmanship but in more unique, non-traditional shapes, the Quaint line offers Dunhill pipes that don't conform to the English marque's standard shape chart. Such is the case here with this striking Acorn design. Presented in versatile Group 4 size, it poises a rounded bowl that tapers to a pointed heel before giving way to a rather robust, flaring shank. Accentuated the stummel's muscularity and curvature is a mount-style stem, the tenon fitted with sterling silver for a flashy accent and added durability.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."-Truett Smith
