Dunhill: Cumberland with Silver (4226) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4128
As smooth in hand as its lines are in profile, the full-bent "26" shape features a plump, softly curved bowl set to a stout transition and a near-vertical shank, with the cumberland mouthpiece curving dramatically back to complete the S-curve. Though certainly easy in hand, such a configuration really makes for an easy clench in the jaw, the perfect accompaniment during chores or any other hands-free activity.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."- Kaz Walters
