Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Bent Dublin with Bamboo (5) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4207
The Quaint series from Dunhill is a category for those pipes that aren't standard shapes. It's for more creative work, like this bent Dublin. Dunhill has certainly toyed with the standard limitations of length and height with this tall bowl, which is more rounded at rim and heel and almost Danish in character. The two knucles of bamboo carry the long stem even further from the bowl for some unusual and slender length.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Chuck Stanion
