Dunhill: Terracotta Army Amber Root with Silver (5102) (16/20)
Product Number: 002-015-4259
The unexpected discovery of a massive army can be something of an unwelcome sight, and historically tends to indicate something of a conflict. In the case of the army of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the surprising 1974 find led to a struggle with the Earth itself, as the 8,000 terracotta soldiers, 130 chariots, and 520 horses acted as a form of funerary art intended to protect the emperor in the afterlife. Once the battalion was sufficiently bared, the coterie was deemed a World Heritage site, able to be enjoyed by visitors and anyone with an interest in Chinese history.
For Dunhill's Terracotta Army series, the marque opted to pay tribute to this legendary assemblage, fashioning a series of stellar briars in a variety of finishes paired to matching sterling silver tampers depicting one of the leader's soldiers. With this "02" bent Billiard, we find the affable classic in none other than the illustrious Amber Root finish, set into its own book-like, leather-bound presentation case. Altogether, it makes for a stellar smoking instrument with which to commemorate this historic find.- Chuck Stanion
