Dunhill: Cumberland (3109) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4300
Though Dunhill's "09" Canadian is one of the English marque's standard shapes, seeing it rendered in a Group 3 size is a rarer sight. Such dimensions retain the shape's quintessential elongated oval shank and abbreviated tapered stem, the form still sleek and streamlined, but offers it in a more versatile overall size, boasting a lightweight personal that doesn't skimp on chamber depth.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."-Truett Smith
