Dunhill: Chestnut (6117) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4313
Dunhill's Group 6 is the English marque's largest size designation within its standard Groups. Often times that results in a particularly tall bowl and deep chamber, but in this "17" Bulldog, much of the pieces size is attributed to width and hearty muscularity. Indeed, the chamber here is almost as broad as it is deep, and the bowl is splayed horizontally, easily cradled and filling the palm substantially — the form almost Tomato-like in its squat, rounded nature, but paired to the Bulldog's characteristic diamond shank.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-Truett Smith
