Dunhill: Shell Briar with Silver (2106) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4331
Dunhill's "06" Pot has long been heralded as the archetypal rendition of the shape chart standard, with artisan carver's looking to the English marque for its perfect proportions and line work. This particular one is offered in more diminutive Group 2 size, rendered in a compact length and lightweight form. It's dressed here in the Shell Briar sandblast, accented by a sterling silver band.
The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipesmoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.-Truett Smith
