Dunhill: Bruyere (1407) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4438
The "07" Prince from Dunhill comes in both a bent and straight version, with the former offered here to present an elegant downward turn that also balances the form when clenched. Such shaping draws the eye forward to the squat, rounded bowl perched on the end in diminutive Group 1 size. It's here presented in the Bruyere's deep ruby stain, cementing the piece's elegant, timeless appeal.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
