Dunhill: Chestnut with Horn (4104) (2017)
Product Number: 002-015-4481
Overall, this is a fairly traditional representation of Dunhill's "04" Bulldog. The shank is diamond of cross section, and the taller style of bowl is wrapped by the design's characteristic beadlines. The stem, however, is bent horizontally at about a 45 degree angle. Dunhill releases the novel feature every so often, but I've never before seen it on the "04" Bulldog, with this piece further commended by a horn mount.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-Truett Smith
