Dunhill: Imperial Dragon Bruyere Billiard with Silver (4103) (6/88)
Product Number: 002-015-4522
The mythical Imperial Dragon has held significance in Chinese culture for centuries, most notably as the Emperor's personal symbol for imperial power and authority. Dynasties also reserved dragon iconography for princes and other nobles, and ancient Chinese philosophy maintained that they, as a people, were descendants of the dragon. Even today, the dragon retains a deep place within Chinese culture, with extraordinary people often referred to as dragons and the Chinese Zodiac reserving a spot for the dragon among its 12 total animals.
Dunhill pays homage to this revered Chinese symbol in The White Spot's Imperial Dragon series. The line features a singular shape, Dunhill's Group 4 "03" straight Billiard, and each piece comes topped with a hinged wind cap of precious metal depicting the Imperial Dragon studded with gemstones. This particular Bruyere example features one of sterling silver, matching the accent around the shank. Though serialized out of 88, only 70 total pieces were crafted in the Bruyere finish, with every digit containing a "4" having been skipped. This pipe is stamped as #6 of that total 70; it's a stunning collector's pipe and comes set within its own leather displays case, designed specifically for the Imperial Dragon series.-Truett Smith
