Dunhill: Bruyere (4104) (2014) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-4537
Dunhill features two straight Bulldog renditions on its standard shape chart: the "17" and the "04." Both remain traditional in regards to standard Bulldog shaping; however, the "17" is considerably more broad and squat, while the "04," as seen here, displays a taller disposition. This Group 4 example is further distinguished by a military mount arrangement, the diminution of the stem lending even more prominence to the tall, canted bowl.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
