Dunhill: Bruyere (4122) (2015)
Product Number: 002-015-4539
Dunhill's "22" Poker exudes traditionalism, displaying a classic profile and possessing the ability to sit sturdily upon flat surfaces. The extra length lent to the shank-and-stem combination provides a touch of elegance to the otherwise utilitarian design while the gently inflated rim helps soften the overall profile. It's here dressed in the rich Bruyere finish and rendered in Group 4 proportions, featuring a robust, Barrel-esque bowl up front with the vulcanite stem tapering gradually and gracefully toward the lip button.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Jeffery Sitts
