Dunhill: Chestnut (6117) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4560
Displaying the squat, low-set demeanor of Dunhill's classic "17" Bulldog shape, this Group 4 rendition presents a wider disposition compared to the English marque's other "04" Bulldog design. The design here trades its conventional beadlines for a softer ridge to demarcate the rim's taper. That said, the taper is more drastic as the "17" prioritizes breadth over height, with Pot-like chamber dimensions and a substantive in-hand posture.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-Truett Smith
