Dunhill: Amber Root Quaint Belge (2) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4634
Dunhill's Quaint series offers up pipes whose shaping falls outside of the marque's standard pipe chart, making for some unique and highly collectible combinations. Presented here is Dunhill's take on the Belge, an age-old pipe shape that dates back to when pipes were originally made out of clay instead of briar. This particular interpretation features the characteristically canted bowl in Group 2 size, fitted to a gracefully arcing shank-and-stem combination that gives the piece a Zulu-esque profile. Its traditional appeal is heightened further thanks to the classic, warm hues of the Amber Root finish.
One of Dunhill's more recent finishes, the Amber Root was introduced in 1995. Like the Root Briar, it showcases a smooth stain, accentuating the briar's natural grain in traditional style. Typically auburn-hued, the Amber Root is often a touch darker in color than that of the Root Briar, pairing handsomely with the jet-black stem for an aesthetic that combines the grain definition of the Root Briar finish with the darker, smokier tones of the Bruyere.- Jeffery Sitts
