Dunhill: Bruyere (1403) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4673
Extremely lightweight and beautifully svelte, this diminutive "03" Billiard from Dunhill represents the English marque's smallest Group size, offering a chamber that's perfect for quick smoking sessions. The gently bent stem, indicated by the "4" in the design's stamping, adds elongated elegance to the profile that's supported by the shank's flared, vulcanite military mount, matching the hues of the stem and transitioning into the dark ruby tones of the Bruyere finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
