Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Bent Dublin with Silver (3) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4771
Dunhill's standard bent Dublin design is designated as a "12," which this Quaint rendition is not. Instead, this piece makes use of a more subtly angled transition and an elongated stem of equally subtle curvature. The bowl retains the archetypal form's upward taper in a reserved, poised manner that suits the austere character of this pipe. Fitting to that classy style, it wears the regal Bruyere finish and is accented by a striking band of sterling silver.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
