Dunhill: Bruyere (5224) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4853
Dunhill's "24" design is a traditional take on the classic Foursquare, complete with a neat faceted arrangement around the bowl as well as a paneled shank and a flattened underside that enables it to sit stably. Offered here in Group 5 dimensions, it makes for a quite muscular pipe, angular and strong, paired with an arrow-straight saddle stem to punctuate the aesthetic. It's finished in the rich, ruby stain of the Bruyere finish, making for a classy, timeless number fit for any pipe smoker's rotation.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Andrew Wike
