Dunhill: Bruyere with Horn (4102) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-4943
A wonderfully regal and classic bent Billiard, this "02" from Dunhill is a Group 4 rendition, with the rather plump bowl boasting a deep chamber and stout transition to match. The curving heel extends into the gently arcing shank, fitted with a mount of genuine horn and tapered stem of black vulcanite, resulting in a sweeping silhouette that suits this pipe perfectly. Dressed in the English marque's esteemed ruby-tinged Bruyere finish, this Billiard is a handsome find.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Angela Robertson
