Dunhill: Bruyere (4112) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-4944
An interesting fact about the Dunhill "12" straight Billiard is that, in its earlier form, it was actually the base for one of Alfred Dunhill's "windshield" pipe designs. While that vintage rendition is still fashioned on occasion by The White Spot, most often the "12" is a classic Chimney/Stack shape with a tall, traditional style. This Group 4 iteration fits will into that convention, adding to it a trim, push style mouthpiece and military mount configuration.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Andrew Wike
