Dunhill: County (4103) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-4992
While the proportions here are certainly English and the lines are bold and firm, as is to be expected, the shape itself is quite reminiscent of certain Stanwell designs. Normally, Dunhill's "03" Billiard would feature a traditional, round shank. Here, though, it's been paneled hexagonally, transitioning into a Billiard bowl, which is quite reminiscent of the Tom Eltang-designed "190" Billiard from Stanwell. It's dressed, though, in the County's thoroughly English sandblast, with a rich, cumberland stem to complement.
Like the Cumberland finish, Dunhill's County line pairs rich, cumberland stems with delightfully textured sandblasts. Typically, County pieces wear a lighter stain, often falling between the Cumberland and Tanshell hues, and since its introduction in 1986, with only a brief hiatus, the County remains stalwart within Dunhill's portfolio, especially desired by lovers of brindled vulcanite and warm sandblasts.-Truett Smith
