Dunhill: Bruyere (4112) (2017)
Product Number: 002-015-5050
Two versions of Dunhill's "12" Stack design exist: One is a classic iteration of the standard form, featuring a Billiard bowl that's proportionately taller than usual, and the other is the English marque's historic "Windshield" shape, essentially a Stack but with the fore of the rim taller than the after to block oncoming wind — created by Alfred Dunhill to be smoked while driving. This particular Group 4 iteration is of the classic, non-Windshield Stack variety, posing an elegant silhouette of clean lines and sleek dimensions in the Bruyere finish.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
