Dunhill: Bruyere with Silver (5115) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-5088
Dunhill's classic bent Pot shape is designated as the "15" on the English marque's standard shape chart, and in Group 5 size, the design's characteristic muscularity and thick-walled nature are well represented. Such a piece is found here, offering palm-filling substance in its robust stance while remaining well-balanced thanks to the shank's upward angle and stem's downward bend. It's found here in the delightfully dark, ruby-tinged stain of the Bryere line, with an added sterling silver accent bend lending elegant appeal.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
