Dunhill: Bruyere (6113) (2019)

Product Number: 002-015-5092

The White Spot's shape chart is famous for its systematic, consistent approach to classic design. That said, there are a few forms that change character across the English marque's various Group sizes, with the "13" bent Apple being one such shape. In smaller Group 1, 2, and 3 sizes, the form maintains the Apple's characteristically squat roundness, but in larger Group sizes, it exhibits a taller, almost Brandy- or Egg-like disposition, as exemplified by this hearty, Group 6 iteration. With a voluptuous heel and steady upward taper, this is a pipe fit for in hand comfort, and it houses a deep chamber for long, welcomed smoking sessions.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
