Dunhill: Chestnut (4109) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-5114
Dunhill is known for its classic shapes, and they don't get much more classic than the Canadian. A low transition and pinched shank helps display the proud, upright bowl to fine effect, rising from the oval shank with the precise bowl curvature we expect from a pipe of Dunhill's pedigree. That shank is long, as expected from the shape, and the stem is abbreviated and tapers suddenly from the transition — the hues of the cumberland stem coinciding with the stummel's deep stain.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.- Chuck Stanion
