Dunhill: Bruyere with Horn (4134) (2012)
Product Number: 002-015-5157
In Group 4 size, this Brandy from Dunhill offers a nice balance of proportions and chamber size, with the "34" upright bowl and a tapered vulcanite stem. Dressed in a the handsome Bruyere finish, it is further elevated by a lighter horn accent, for a gentle contrast and quite elegant aesthetic. For anyone looking for the comparatively rare "34" from Dunhill, this is a quite handsome rendition.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Joel Balyeat
