Dunhill: Chestnut (2107) (2017)
Product Number: 002-015-5169
Dunhill presents an incredibly svelte rendition of the Prince shape in this "07" of Group 2 proportions. Featuring a lengthy cumberland stem paired to a trim shank, the relative heft of the bowl is balanced by the extended length granted its back half. This iteration is covered in a swirling flame grain pattern on the rim and both flanks, while the heel and fore and aft of the bowl are peppered with whorls of birdseye. While the length of the pipe brings distinction, a lithe weight is preserved by the graceful profile of the classic Prince shape.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-John McElheny
