Dunhill: Chestnut Quaint Dublin (2) (2018)
Product Number: 002-015-5170
Dunhill's Quaint series showcases pipes that fall out of the English marquees standard shape chart, such as this uniquely shaped Dublin. With a rounded top reminiscent of an acorn, the petite bowl tapers gently to a smooth, tidy transition. While the proportional shank matches the lithe dimensions of the bowl, the stem extends well past it, tapering gently, creating a streamlined, soft-line aesthetic. Paired with a brindled cumberland stem and Chestnut finish, this piece is gorgeously rendered in dark, smoky hues.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-Angela Robertson
