Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Acorn (2) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-5197

Dunhill's Quaint series denotes pipes which fall outside of the English marque's shape chart, either as modified versions of existing shapes, or completely new ones. This Acorn is a variation on the English marque's "27" design, a petite rendition of the form better known for its interpretations by Danish artisans, though here handsomely crafted by the English icon. With a straight combination of shank and stem paired to a graceful bowl of Group 2 size, it exudes a reserved elegance and nobility, a slight forward urge to the bowl giving the pipe a bit of jaunty detail, the soft ridgeline denoting the bowl's taper toward the rim exemplifying the softness of this piece's lines. Dressed in Dunhill's timeless Bruyere finish, the stummel displays handsome grain in a warm auburn stain.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
