Dunhill: Chestnut (5133) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-5219
The "33" is Dunhill's take on the classic bent Brandy shape. While most of the English marque's standard shapes remain quite consistent in design, the "33" can vary slightly in its bowl's taper and the heel being either rounded or flattened. This particular example is the most common — sitting on its base when loaded, with an elegant taper toward the smooth-polished rim. Presented here in Group 5 size, the bowl is substantial in hand and generous of chamber, while the quarter bend balances it out well when smoked hands free.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.-Truett Smith
