Dunhill: Bruyere Quaint Poker (3) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-5239
Dunhill's Quaint line comprises pipes that don't fit into the storied marque's standard shaping conventions, adding a bespoke touch that makes them even more collectible. This interpretation of the Poker is rendered in moderate Group 3 proportions, with a rotund, Tankard-like bowl, a flattened heel, and a low-slung transition and shank. The long taper of vulcanite stem amplifies the lean nature, and the rich, elegant Bruyere finish broadcasts elegance and class.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Joel Balyeat
