Dunhill: Cumberland (4105) (2018) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5246
A tall, subtly flaring and slightly canted bowl rendered in Group 4 size, this understated "05" Dublin is a timeless take on the shape chart standard. The height of the bowl is emphasized by a low-set transition and rather lengthy, arrow-straight shank and stem arrangement that stretch out for a streamlined, sleek aesthetic. It's seen here dressed in the grain-defining, elegant Cumberland finish.
When Alfred Dunhill released his patented Shell Briar, he forever changed the pipe smoking world at large. Dunhill has often been credited with being the first to offer sandblasted pipes (arguably the most popular finish today), and the Cumberland finish further displayed Dunhill's innovative spirit. Well received after its release in 1979, the Cumberland series was named for the English marque's warehouse on Cumberland road, and the line's signature, brindled vulcanite stem became so iconic, the warmly striated material is now referred to simply as "cumberland."-Angela Robertson
