Dunhill: Bruyere with Horn (3101) (2021)
Product Number: 002-015-5296
Sleek in shape, this "01" straight Apple from Dunhill offers the timeless finish and shaping the English has built their reputation on, with a bespoke mount of genuine horn bolstering the shank end. Rendered in versatile Group 3 dimensions, it offers a good bit of chamber volume while keeping the overall weight quite light. A handsome piece, topped by a hand-cut vulcanite stem designed for trouble-free disassembly even when the pipe is hot.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.- Joel Balyeat
