Dunhill: Bruyere with Horn (3421) (2018) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-5299

While Dunhill's "21" Zulu has a dynamically forward-canted bowl, it retains a certain upright disposition and defined transition that keeps the shape fluid, yet reserved. The bowl possess a Dublin-esque flare at the rim and subtle taper to the sweeping heel that further aids in striking a lean, gestural profile. The slightly bent tapered stem downturns in coordination with the cant of the bowl, with this particular rendition featuring a rarely seen military mount of stark, black horn and a push-style stem, enabling the piece to broken down even while hot. It's all presented in a lithe Group 3 size and dressed in the smoky Bruyere finish, accentuating the flowing flame grain that flanks the bowl.

The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.
