Dunhill: Chestnut (1111) (2021)
Product Number: 002-015-5356
Group 1 pipes are among Dunhill's rarest size designation, making this "1111" rendition a delight for those who prefer sleek, lightweight designs. It's a lithe Lovat with a trim weight, but this Group 1 variant really doubles down on that feature, boasting a weight of just 17 grams, and a length of five inches, for a pipe made for effortless clenching and handy pocket carry. If you are a rabid fan of Lovats, as our own Chuck Stanion is, or just love English shape-chart standards in smaller sizes, this one is for you.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.- Joel Balyeat
