Dunhill: County (2105) (2019)
Product Number: 002-015-5461
This "05" from Dunhill is a classic take on the Dublin design, with the flared rim and subtle taper resulting in a firm heel. The bowl sits at the front of an arrow-straight shank and stem arrangement that anchors most of the visual weight up front with sleek, low-slung lines. In Group 2 size, this is a petite piece of briar, boasting a lightweight disposition in hand that lends itself well to gesticulation and is perfectly suited for clenching between the teeth. It wears the coppery, County sandblasted finish, highlighting some handsome grain about the stummel, complemented in color by the tapered stem of brindled vulcanite.
Like the Cumberland finish, Dunhill's County line pairs rich, cumberland stems with delightfully textured sandblasts. Typically, County pieces wear a lighter stain, often falling between the Cumberland and Tanshell hues, and since its introduction in 1986, with only a brief hiatus, the County remains stalwart within Dunhill's portfolio, especially desired by lovers of brindled vulcanite and warm sandblasts.--Davin Hylton
