Dunhill: Bruyere (1111) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5480
In Dunhill's rare and petite Group 1 size, this "11" Lovat offers the sleek, timeless design in trim, lightweight proportions. The bulb-like Billiard bowl rises proudly at the front of the lengthy, slender shank-and-stem arrangement for a streamlined profile full of neat, tidy lines. The smoky Bruyere finish commends the briar of the stummel handsomely and accentuates the dense fields of birdeyes around the bowl. It's a handy design that's primed for effortless clenching, and it should slip quite easily into a jacket pocket.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.--Davin Hylton
