Dunhill: Shell Briar Quaint Cutty with Silver (2) (2021) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-5729

Dunhill's Quaint line is reserved for distinctive designs that don't align with the English marque's standardized shape chart, like this stylish Cutty. In Group 2 size, this Cutty is of a slender build, pairing a petite, forward-canted bowl to a lithely bent shank-and-stem arrangement. The design is lightweight in hand and well-balanced in terms of proportions, with the shank as long as the bowl is tall. It's all handsomely presented in the Shell Briar sandblast and accented with a trim band of flashy sterling silver.

The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
