Dunhill: Bruyere (1111) (2021) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5785
This Dunhill Lovat bears a stamp you don't see everyday: "1111." A Group 1 rendition of the English marque's archetypal Lovat, this piece is just shy of five inches long and boasts the traditional proportions and handsome shaping that has helped make Dunhill the recognized, revered, and collected brand it is today. For those interested in the more petite iterations of the brand's iconic shapes, this is a must-have, especially as these smaller Group sizes are fewer and further between than, say, Groups 3, 4, and 5.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
