Dunhill: Bruyere (2206) (2018) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5821
As much as the Pot tends to be thought of as a rather stout shape, this Dunhill Group 2-sized offering lends the broad-bowled classic an elegant style, smoother and lighter in its lines — reinforced by this version's lean saddle stem. Despite being on the more diminutive end of the English marque's size spectrum, this piece maintains a stocky bowl in comparison to the slender shank and stem, dressing the briar her in the rich hue of the Bruyere line and pairing handsomely with the jet-black stem for an aesthetic that exudes timeless appeal.
The Bruyere was Alfred Dunhill's original finish upon launching his brand of premium pipes and smoking accessories and was the only Dunhill finish from 1910 until 1917. Even after the addition of other finishes, the Bruyere maintained a high level of popularity, becoming synonymous with what is thought of, even today, as the quintessential pipe. To achieve the iconic, ruby hue and saturation, a skilled craftsman painstakingly layers particular stains in a precise manner, then meticulously polishes the pipe to a high luster. The final result is, simply put, timeless.-Truett Smith
