Dunhill: Chestnut with Silver (4113) (2019) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 002-015-5859
Oftentimes, Dunhill will pair its "13" bent Apple with a flaring mount-style arrangement at the shank end, making for a whimsical silhouette. Nothing against that design, but I rather prefer more classic iterations, such as this piece fitted with a sleek tapered stem— it does well to place the focus on the rounded bowl up front, which is where, in my opinion, the focus is most deserving. Sinuous of S-curve and plump of bowl and transition, this classic piece is as timeless as they come, especially as it's dressed in the White Spot's beautiful Chestnut finish and adorned with a regal silver band at the junction.
A sibling to the Cumberland, Dunhill's Chestnut finish was inaugurated in 1983 to commemorate the closing of the Cumberland Rd. warehouse for which the Cumberland finish was named. Like the Cumberland, pipes in the Chestnut line wear the same dark, smoky stain and are fitted to stems of cumberland but feature a silky smooth, glossy finish compared to the Cumberland's rugged sandblast.
