Dunhill: Shell Briar with Silver (1101) (2021) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 002-015-5864

Out of Dunhill's Group sizes (1 through 6) Group 1 is the most rare, in any shape and finish combination, making it a desirable designation for not only fans of smaller pipes but for avid Dunhill collectors as a whole. This Group 1 rendition of the workshop's "01" straight Apple is one such rarity, and we've seen less than a handful come through as new pipes from the White Spot. Charming and petite, it's a featherweight Nosewarmer of classic style and solid craftsmanship, all dressed in the Shell Briar sandblast and accented by a band of sterling silver.

The Shell Briar's addition to the Dunhill catalog was a pivotal moment in pipe-smoking history. Before 1917, pipes with sandblasted finishes had never been made, and Alfred Dunhill's innovative mind created arguably the most popular finish for pipes today when he unveiled the Shell Briar. With its dark, reserved color palette and delightful texture, it's no surprise that it's still wildly popular over a century later.
